Hottie Utility Kilt - $169

This uber-shorty kilt is built for utility, fashion and comfort in the heat of the day. CinderGarden Hottie Utility Kilt front The naughty-school-girl length is perfect for showing off your fancy underpants. Made of sturdy cotton canvas, the utility waistband has a large pocket with velcro closure, a small pocket for a swiss army knife and pens, a hammer loop and several smaller loops for clipping things on. The built-in-belt is adjustable strapping with two metal side-release buckles for a snug low-rise, CinderGarden Hottie Utility Kilt backside which evenly distributes the weight of your load. Kilt Sizing - The fit is low-rise with the waist band three-fingers below the belly button. Your 'low-rise' waist measurement should be taken at this three-finger mark ALL the way around. For a proper fit, PLEASE don't guess on your measurements.

Made to be functional and fashionable, this furry hip pouch distributes the weight of your gear around your hips. CinderGarden Furry Utility Hip Pouch The adjustable nylon strap has a side-release buckle and three large grommets big enough to clip on large carabiners. The fur pocket is 8" wide by 6" tall by 2" deep and has an elastic front edge to keep it closed.

Playa Face Wrap - $7 to $15

This amazingly simple stretch-cotton wrap is the perfect replacement for that old-fashioned bandana that constantly slips down. Wraps are made from cotton t-shirt jersey so they are soft, stretchy and they stay in place. All edges are machine finished to prevent fraying.

The wrap can be worn as...:
* A neck cooler, just get it wet.
* A head cover. to protect your hair from the playa.
* A face mask. Since it's stretchy, just pull it up over your mouth, nose, mouth, ears and the back of your head and it stays in place during dust storms. Get it wet, and it filters out dust.
* Sleeping mask, to block out the light during day-time naps.

The Extra-long wrap can also be worn as...
* A neck and head cowl on chilly nights.
* A beanie. pull it over your head and tuck under in the back.

We have personally tested the wrap on the playa (and gifted them out) so it's proven to be effective against the elements. Once you use one, you'll wonder how you got along without it.

Pricing on Cinder Garden Designs
We keep our prices reasonable and the quality high by sticking with our own designs. We buy materials in bulk, work faster with repition and are good at what we do, so we spend most our time producing our own designs.

Pricing on Custom Orders
We accept custom orders between October 1st and March 1st. Prices will be higher than our own designs, due to design time, material research time, the slower production pace and the higher cost of buying small quantities of fabric. Custom order price quotes may also include a research fee.

Placing Orders

Deadline - Most garments are made-to-order, so orders must be received by August 1st. Orders might not be accepted after that date and will be subject to a "Rush" fee.

playa kid We are Team Gibson; Judi, Jonathan and eight-year-old Dexter (a six-time burner). We are a family of longtime burners who value the creativity, integrity and extreme self-reliance philosophies of the Burning Man lifestyle. We practice playa habits in our daily life by minimizing our footprint, conserving and reusing resources, staying on Moop patrol, being generous with friends and strangers and staying prepared with emergency supplies. Daily Sock Monkey Workshops & Midday Chill Zone

Ever wonder where your missing socks go?
They're mixing it up at Hot Monkey Sox... where single socks begin a new life as a playa sock monkey. We give burners a chance to create something at Black Rock by recycling something that is abundant in everyday life. Take the time to sit down to make a monkey, slow down, spend some quality time with fellow burners, and discover our own creativity.

You will find us on D street, on the perimeter of Kidsville. Just look for our giant Sock Monkey and the Hot Monkey Toss (our giant slingshot) where you can shoot a monkey through the faux-ring-of-fire.

Sock Monkey Making Workshops - Daily from 11am to 5pm:
Kids and grups are welcome to come make a sock monkey in the shade during the heat of the day (allow 2-3 hours). If you have a short attention span, you can make a quick sock-puppet instead. We provide socks, sewing notions, stuffing and accessories like yarn and buttons.

Sock and Stuffing Contributions: You are welcome to contribute your mismatched socks and old pillows for stuffing. Socks must be clean crew socks without holes, stains or threadbare spots. Socks may be any color and size. Pillows must be fiberfill, not broken up foam or feathers. Just bring your it to our camp.

Favorite playa moments of Burning Man 2008
1. Riding the Surly Bird (art car) on Thursday night, moving to great tunes as her people made her dance, feeling the warm embrace of Surly... who is far more snuggly than you might think.
2. Working as Gate Greeters on Monday night (12am-4am) with Eddy & Freddy, wearing our fuzzy animal outfits.
3. Lamplighting the 2:00 route with Kidsville on Wednesday night. We hightly recommend volunteering for lamplighting, you won't be sorry!
